About

Arbitration is a global conversation.

We’re making room for more people to take part.

WHY BITS EXISTS

“Making sense of
international arbitration,
one BIT at a time.”

INDEPENDENT.
OPEN ACCESS.
ALWAYS CURIOUS.

Keeping up with arbitration means moving between judgments, institutional updates, treaty developments and the practical questions that come with running a case. There is plenty to read. Finding a clear explanation of why something matters can be harder.

Arbitration BITS began in 2025 with a straightforward idea: make those explanations easier to find. We follow international arbitration across jurisdictions and bring together news, legal analysis and practical learning for students, researchers, practitioners and people working with disputes.

Some developments need a short update. Others deserve a close reading of the judgment, or a careful walk through the procedure. Our formats reflect that: BITSx News for developments, longer analysis for the reasoning, BITS Primer for the practical foundations and short videos for a first introduction.

We want readers to leave with a clearer understanding and a useful next question. That means linking to the original sources, explaining legal language when it needs explaining and making space for emerging voices alongside experienced contributors.

The content is open access. You don’t need a subscription to read it, and you don’t need an established practice to join the conversation.

01

Useful before impressive.

If a reader needs to read a sentence twice, we can probably write it better. Legal substance and clear language belong together.

02

The source stays in view.

Judgments, rules and primary materials are the starting point. Reporting and our own commentary should be easy to distinguish.

03

More voices at the table.

A global field benefits from people entering it from different places, experiences and stages of practice.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PLATFORM

Meet the team.

Founder

Aabhas Pareek

Aabhas is an international disputes lawyer and arbitrator. His work spans commercial disputes and international arbitration, including advising on the choices that shape a case before and during proceedings. He founded Arbitration BITS in 2025 to make the field easier to follow and easier to enter. At BITS, that means explaining developments clearly, asking useful questions about practice and creating opportunities for people at an early stage in their careers. He brings the perspective of a practising disputes lawyer to the platform’s research, learning initiatives and editorial direction.
